Child Protection Policy
1. Purpose
This policy outlines the Springfield Gamers Club approach to keeping children safe by protecting them from harm or risk of harm during events organised by the Springfield Gamers Club.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all members attending club meetings organised by Springfield Gamers, including outside events and meetings.

4. Definitions
Child: A person under 18 years of age.
Harm: Any detrimental effect of a significant nature on the child’s physical, psychological or emotional wellbeing. It is immaterial how the harm is caused. Harm can be caused by physical, psychological or emotional abuse or neglect or sexual abuse or exploitation. Harm can be caused by a single act, omission or circumstance or a series or combination of acts, omissions or circumstances.
5. What is Child Protection
Springfield Gamers Club identifies the protection and safety of children as an area of highest priority and is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children during events organised by the Springfield Gamers Club where a child is at risk of harm caused by others.
6. Responsibilities
All members and visitors have a responsibility to create and maintain a child safe environment. All members and visitors have a responsibility to prevent and respond to harm and risk of harm to children during club events.
Children are treated with respect and are protected from harm or risk of harm. Always, the child’s safety, wellbeing and best interests are paramount
Parents must be aware that their children may be exposed to adult language while attending club events. Parents are responsible for their child’s behaviour during club events.
Photos taken during a club event may include children but will only be used on Social Media and Websites with consent from a parent or guardian.
A parent or guardian of the child must be in attendance at the club event while the child is in attendance.
Club members interacting with children are reminded of their responsibilities as listed in the Code of Conduct – Club Members policy.
7. Outcomes
Where it is found that this policy has been breached, the relevant authorities will be contacted, following consultation with the child(s) parent(s) and the matter reported.
The Committed will determine if the club member(s) will be dismissed from the venue and any further events
